Links in product description breaks at save

    Hey woo

    I have a number of “”””””” before links and “”””””” after links that I add to my product description. That means everything breaks, whenever saved and I can start over, to se it break again. Most links are to shared product attributes such as size, color etc.

    What is the issue here?

    Also Product Description does not display immediately, but needs to be stimulated by jumping to another tab and then back….?

    Regarding the “””””””” before links and “”””””” after links, I’m a bit unclear on what you mean by this. Could you clarify if these are the multiple quotation marks?

    Additionally, it would be very helpful if you could edit one of your products and then provide a screenshot of the links you are referring to. This will give me a better context of the problem you are facing.

    Furthermore, to assist you more effectively, please send me a copy of your site’s System Status Report.

    You can find it by following these steps:
    1. Navigate to WooCommerce in your WordPress dashboard.
    2. Click on ‘Status’.
    3. Select ‘Get system report’ and then ‘Copy for support’.

    After copying the report, paste it into a new gist at https://gist.github.com and then share the link to the gist here in your reply.

    With the screenshot and the System Status Report, I will be able to investigate the issue further and determine what may be causing this unusual behavior.

    Hmm, I see what you mean. I’ve used the “Visage” product as an example, and clinking on the link for “Hahnemühle” in the Product description has a very unusual URL and leads to a 404 page error.

    Were these working as expected previously? If so, has anything updated recently that may have potentially caused this issue (themes/plugins)?

    Also, what are you seeing before adding the product description? Does this look normal, or is there anything unusual perhaps pre-added to the Product description box on the Product edit page?

    Just to place our focus on a specific product for now, would you mind sharing a screenshot of the “Product description” section of the Product edit page for the “Visage” product:

    Also, can you share the correct link that “Hahnemühle” should be redirecting to, and where you are obtaining the specific link?

    I have unresolved again and sorry for late reply.

    Backend screen of Visage Description.

    1. Links are saved like sofor Hahnemühle and works, but woo adds ugly numbers: https://svalinnart.com/art-attribute/label/hahnemuhle/

    It’s a 403 link this page is missing and obviously not good for seo and ranking. It happens to all of my links in product description.

    Now if I go to the Hahnemühle page, Woo adds a lot of uglyness like so but link is correct: https://svalinnart.com/art-attribute/label/hahnemuhle/?v=dd65ef9a5579

    If I save the link incl ugly it will break, once woo figures out, that this is SEO hostile and no human being find it appealing, and get it fixed into the permalinks I defined in woo settings, then all links are broken again. So adding ugly to links I am not happy with.

    I copy paste link from the actual link.

    Also I can see that the woo filter is broken. So going to an attribute such as Orange, does not filter compositions in Orange but displays all products…

    In fact filters do not work at all

    Thank you for the additional details. I went to your site to review and I found the issues you mentioned (the description tab not showing its content by default but having to go to another tab then back to it so it shows the content, and the links being broken as you explained).

    I have unresolved since it’s not thx. Issues are:

    • Broken links

    I have a suspicion but not sure…. I create a product as fx a vendor and save in a none gutenberg environment. Then if I edit this product as admin in Gutenberg and save, then the links start breaking and get link after link after link. This is not a conclusion but for now a hunch.

    • Broken filters

    All categories show all products unfiltered always

    All attributes show all products unfiltered always

    Only filter working is price range. I added it to the shop template. After working with the template, the problem arose. I have tried to remove the price slider again and save, but filters remain broken, so something appears to conflict.

    Hi there,

    Just to be sure we’re on the same page: You’re saying that when creating a new product on the front-end as a vendor, everything is working as expected BUT when creating a new product from the admin perspective, it doesn’t work – right?

    Assuming that’s correct, can you share a bit more about how you’re creating that product from the admin side? You mentioned using Gutenberg – Can you share a screenshot of that action and also confirm whether you’re using the new New product editor that’s currently in beta (which can be toggled under WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced)?

    What I am saying is:

    1. Store vendor adds a product and link description parts to their appropriate attribute or category (Note here the link is already messed up, but was added accurately)
    2. Admin does some minor adjustments from backend in the product block editor (New Beta) and saves. From now on the link is broken and a mess like described above.

    From what I gather, the (multi)vendor functionality in question is enabled by multivendor marketplace plugins, per the site’s System Status Report (SSR).

    I’d recommend reaching out to the plugin’s support, as they would be in a better position to assist you, which can be accessed via this page:

    I don’t think it points me in the right direction. You have a block editor in beta state and apparently saving in legacy editor and then in block editor is an issue that mess up any and all links with description.

    That’s a bug to say it mildly

    So the link is working fine when added by the store vendor, when the admin adjust the description using the new editor and saves, that’s when the link gets broken?

    Have you tried creating a product entirely from the new editor and adding a link in the description to learn if it breaks that way too, without any interference from the third party plugin?

    As a test, I just went on a brand new WordPress / WooCommerce install and tried adding a product using the new editor (beta) and added a link to the description, the exact same link you’re using, even.

    I didn’t see any issues with the link:
