Links keep showing up on pages that I did not intend. Is there a WordPress option I can select to prevent this from happening? For example, if I use the phrase “buying a car”, the system creates a link to some page related to that topic but completely unrelated to my site. When I examine the HTML of the page, there is no such link, so it appears to be getting generated “on the fly.”

  • My first thought is this could be caused by an extension running in your web browser. Can you share the url to your website so I can see if I’m seeing these links, as well?

    The site is https://www.abmi.net.

Glancing at a couple of pages, I’m not seeing any of the links you’ve described.

Is there a specific URL where you are seeing the links?

Yes. On the home page, the words “solid track record” appears as a link. But if you’re not seeing them, this must be something going on locally on my computer. That’s fine, as long as the world at large does not see them.

I figured it out (thanks to you). An app called WebGuard somehow got installed on my computer. When I removed it, the links went away.
