Links no longer working

Could you please let me know what is the content of your category/news folder on the server?

A screenshot would be really helpful.

Based on the website link you have mentioned, it seems to be in your root. Just send me a screenshot of all the folders in your root(same level as wp-content ).

As I expected, there is no “category” folder here and all the links of the top menu bar are using that folder.

Please verify the links of the header menu items. All of them seem to be pointing to https://www.northwestlimousin.com/category/xyz where xyz is “news”, “results” etc.

Thanks for replying but I think there may be a bigger problem; as mentioned above the link enabling me to activate a new theme isn’t working either. Any suggestions?

Why do you want to activate a new theme now? I would suggest going step by step. How about first figuring out why your header menu links have broken ?

I wanted to activate a new theme – the Twenty Twelve Parent Theme. to rule out the child theme from the list of possible causes.
The links in the “Latest News” widget on the home page don’t work either and the same issue is occurring on all my other sites that use a Twenty Twelve Child theme

Please note that not all the links in the top menu use the “category” folder e.g. northwestlimousin.com/gallery/ or northwestlimousin.com/north-west-limousin-show-team-rules/ (located in a sub menu) so that is why I thought that it might be a bigger problem. All of the sites have worked fine for many months and the problem has just occurred within the past week or so

What I am wondering at this point is that the way there are other links that are not using the category folder, could it be possible for us to change the links that do use category folder to not use it and change it to the correct web address. After all they are just links coded in there correct?

Problem solved – it was an issue within the functions.php code
