    Pete,

This is really important. And the site that has the non-plugin version I’m not posting here. So if you need to look at it I need to email you it.

I wasn’t that worried before as I didn’t think it really mattered if I got tons of clicks. But now I’m very concerned about them possibly shutting my accounts down if this keeps up from what I saw about the 1% conversion for the Euro accounts. So what do you suggest? Can you fix the manual one so it won’t use my ID on the lookups quickly? Should I take it off the site until you do?

    Pretty concerned about it.

At the same time, Nick seems to be using the plugin and having the same problem. So maybe the manual version alone doesn’t explain it entirely? But then I have the plugin on other sites and not having this problem there. So it’s confusing.

OK well I chickened out. I took the javascript code off the site that’s registering tons of clicks. I’m eager to put it back on. But I don’t think I should until you have a bit to look at it Pete.

So can you please let me know when you’re around and when it works for both of us I will put the code back just long enough for you to take a look. Maybe we can hop on skype or something or just email back and forth at that time and see if we can get this resolved.

It’s a shame because I hate to lose possible sales during this time it’s not on. But it seems too risky letting it keep racking up hundreds of false clicks.

If this is an issue where the manual javascript doesn’t strip the ID’s then it would seem everyone who uses it would be experiencing this problem and having lots of false clicks. So I don’t know if that’s the case. But it seems like a pretty big problematic bug.

Hope we can work out a time to take a look at it together soon. Thanks a lot.

Reporting back in – my money is on it being a glitch on Amazon’s end, at least for what I’m seeing for the US clicks – since the high click rate is also happening on the site that has never used this plugin.

So Nick. You’re seeing high clicks (how high by the way? Just a bit higher or hundreds or thousands?) just on the US program? So you’re not seeing that on any of the other country programs?

Meanwhile, I’m seeing no problem on the US. But on Canada massive clicks. Very high on the UK and Germany too. I can’t imagine it being an Amazon glitch on my side. Maybe our problems are different.

Hopefully sometime soon Pete will be able to see how the javascript is functioning on my site and that will help us figure it out.

BU810 – I’ve updated the non-wordpress version to the latest code, so download it and see how you get on: https://uploads.petewilliams.info/amazon-localiser.zip

Though from what Nick is saying there’s some other issue with affiliate click reporting that has nothing to do with the plugin, so you may still see some odd numbers.

Thanks Pete. I just installed the new code. We’ll have to wait a day or two to see what happens to the Amazon numbers.

It sounds like Nick is having a somewhat increased number of clicks on just the US site. I’m having hundreds and thousands on multiple countries. I removed the code yesterday and those countries went to 0. So there seems no doubt the code was causing all the clicks.

We’ll find out soon if this new code solves it. Thanks for your help.

On my end I was experiencing a ridiculously high increase in clicks on both the site using this plugin and on another low traffic one that wasn’t. Several hundred clicks per day on the very low traffic site and a few thousand clicks a day on the higher traffic site. Totally back to normal now – looks like a weird 4 day glitch.

Glad to hear it’s all working properly now ??

    Good news.

The WordPress sites using the plugin never had any problems. Those work properly.

All the massive numbers of clicks were coming from the non-Wordpress site using the manual javascript code. Once you updated the code, it is now working properly without huge numbers of clicks.

Thank you, Pete, for taking the time to update that code. I really appreciate it.

Now if I ever get any foreign affiliate income, you’ll get my first dollar.
