Links not posting and disappearing

A few months ago WordPress was not posting the links I would insert. When I tried to update the page the links would be gone as well?! I tried to edit them in visual mode and I have looked at the coding and everything seems in place.
Here is an example of the text:
The Heat: How China’s film industry could become world’s largest market*Please note that although the link shows in the post, it does not on the website.
