Custom links don’t work with the native gallery shortcode when the Enhanced Media Library “media_category” is used. Using just separate IDs, it works perfectly.

    Test shortcode (not working):
    [gallery orderby="title" columns="5" size="full" media_category="174"]
    Test shortcode (working):
    [gallery columns="5" size="full" ids="161,158,162,159,160,1781,194" orderby="title"]

    Gallery-related plugins installed:
    Enhanced Media Library v2.4.5
    WP Custom Links v1.12
    Enable Media Replace v3.1.1
Document Gallery v4.4.2 (This seems to use it’s own shortcode [dg])

Hi. I just installed Enhanced Media Library and was able to create a gallery with media_category that worked correctly. Could you provide me with a link to the gallery where you are seeing the issue?

If it helps, the theme is Education Hub

Any update, or something I can try to get this working?

SOrry I missed your previous response. I’ll take a look at this today. Maybe you could provide a screenshot of the settings for the first image in your gallery so I can confirm it is setup correctly? Thanks.

It looks like you have something in your setup that is replacing the standard gallery tags of dt and dl with figure html tags. Could you provide a full list of all plugins that you are using?

Not sure it is related. A gallery without the EML shortcode tags don’t have the dl/dt tags either, but still work. I did try manually readding them through the icontag and itemtag tags, and while they show up now, the links still don’t work.

Have to admit I’m a little stumped at this point. It’s hard to troubleshoot without seeing all the setup. Is there any chance you could create an account on your site that I could log in and check things out? If so, mail me at [email protected] with the details.

After some testing, and having a plugin that shows which items are attached to a post/page, I found that the links only stop working on items that aren’t “attached” to the post. Steps to reproduce would be:

    1. Install EML, this plugin, and another plugin like Media Library Assistant (to remove an attachment).
    2. Create a gallery using a shortcode similar to “[gallery orderby="title" columns="5" size="full" media_category="174"]“.
    3. Unattach one or more of the media items if they aren’t already.
    4. Load the page and see that the unattached items in the gallery don’t function properly.
