    I understand and appreciate the difficulties you ran into.

    I would pose only one question for your consideration, and I’m not expecting you to answer it here.

    How is it that the other plugin producers who use custom taxonomy manage to produce products that customers like without sacrificing the functionality designed into WordPress and without making their customers’ lives harder?

    Well, not every plugin producer is dealing with the kind of complex output we are–most are working within the confines of simple, smaller templates or just widgets. Or they have the same issue we already encountered above–they create their own templates and then if the integration isn’t perfect, you have all these overrides to do.

    We’re not trying to make life harder for folks here–it’s a balance to strike and I know it doesn’t work for everyone. That’s why we’re working on the new theme solution which still keeps that balance but adds flexibility we’re lacking at the moment.
