List custom taxonomy in sidebar?

Hello everyone! this is my first post here! ^_^
I am building a therapist directory for my area and I am having trouble solving a problem. I need some way to list the categories that each listing belongs to somewhere on the sidebar. I have been using a plugin called “List Taxonomy”, but this week it went on the fritz and isnt working anymore…I’v tried to just use the custom taxonomy widget that wordpress provides, but it seems to only be capable of displaying the parent categories in my custom taxonomy. Do you have any ideas?
