• One of my users has created a lot of events and now wants to start using categories. The problem is that unlike posts, VSEL doesn’t assign a default category and I don’t see any way of getting the shortcode to display only posts which are not in a specific category. Is there any way to do this without going back and editing hundreds of previous events to add a default category?

    Hi Simon,

Because event categories are optional, there’s no default category added. You can add a category afterwards (in bulk) by selecting all relevant events on page Events in your dashboard, choose Edit, click Apply, and add the category. If there are hundreds of events to edit, you can increase the number of events per page via the Screen Options tab.

Please note that the categories page should be a page that contains the VS Event List shortcode (with category attribute), otherwise evenst are not sorted by event date.
