While the content is appearing on the front end, when I go to edit any pages, all the content within my Publish Press List Item blocks has disappeared. The list blocks all exist in the correct places and show the styling changes I’ve made to them, but the content itself is gone.

When I go to exit editing the page, it gives me a warning to publish the page as if I’d made changes when I haven’t made any. I’ve tried duplicating the page and publishing… if I publish it without going in to edit, it shows up correctly. However, if I edit that same page, it shows no List Item content on the back end, similar to the original. Publishing either page after editing (and it showing the content gone) removes all the content from the front end of my site.

This is happening with all pages across my website that feature the List Item blocks.

    Hi @thewildinitiative

    Thanks for using PublishPress Blocks.

Do you mind informing us what PublishPress Blocks version are you using?

    Thanks,

    Hi, @rizaardiyanto

The site I referenced above is using Version 3.1.4.2. I’ve also checked other sites I’ve built using the Publish Press Blocks plugin and they’re resulting in the same error with the List Item blocks. They’re all using the same version of the plugin.

This is a huge problem for me. None of these pages can be updated without having to completely rebuild all of the list content on them. That’s thousands of dollars worth of hours across all my clients sites using the plugins.

@thewildinitiative Can you try right click > Inspect, and check the console tab. Did you see any error on Console tab?

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. If you have any further questions, please reply again here, or you can start a new thread.

    Thanks,

@rizaardiyanto The Javascript Console isn’t showing any errors on the front end of the site or the back end of WordPress when I load the page.

Can you try temporarily deactivate all others plugin except PublishPress Blocks to test if there is any plugin conflict?

Thread Starter Sam – The Wild Initiative

    (@thewildinitiative)

@rizaardiyanto So, I created a staging site and did some experimentation.

    To note,

To note, if I save the page, it will show on the front end with no content. If I duplicate the page, the content will show on the front end, but editing the duplicated page has the same result. If I add content to the lists and save it, the update will show on the front end and I’m able to then edit it on the back end. It’s only the content created prior to whatever recent update happened that is being removed.

I’m using the GeneratePress theme and the GenerateBlocks plugin that’s built for the theme. The GenerateBlocks plugin provides the containers and layout grid I use for my pages.

If I disable the GenerateBlocks plugin and then edit the page, I’m able to see the list content… however, it’s contained within an invalid block as the Container/Grid that is from GB. If I go to the block hierarchy, I’m able to expand all the invalid blocks until I find the List Block, and I can drag that outside of the containers. If I then save the page and reactivate the plugin, the List Item content will show where I dragged them outside of the containers but will still show the empty List Item block, similar to the screenshot. If I go through that process again, when the plugin is disabled, it will show both the content I dragged outside of the container and will show the content back in the containers again.

Seems like there must’ve been some update to the GenerateBlocks plugin that’s causing the containers to clear the List Items. I’ve reached out to GeneratePress/Blocks support to see if they can provide any insight. But, any ideas y’all have would be helpful.

@thewildinitiative Thanks for the update. I tried replicate this with GenerateBlocks but could not replicate it. Maybe GenerateBlock side has more ideas why it happened.
