  • you are batting 0/100 for replies and the reason why (im guessing) is because you’re not doing your own homework.

ALL wordpress functions are documented. In other words, you dont need to ask this, because it’s already here:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Template_Tags/wp_get_archives

Had you typed wp_get_archives into Google — thats the first result.

And it tells you how to do what you want.

Im being hard on you because your other threads are similar .. in that theyve been answered and are easily found if you a little work, you do identify yourself as a web developer in your profile, and youre NOT exactly new to these forums.

Hey – thanks for the reply.

I have thoroughly and repeatidly read through the codex and Google. Unfortunately I’ve had a number of unusual, probably user error, issues that I just can’t seem to get straight. So I’m asking for input because after an hour or two of trying these things repeatidly and not getting the expected result clearly I’m doing something wrong.

On this site: https://jen-novak-consulting.theportlandco.com/ it should be listing the most recent article using this line, as I understand it: <?php ard_get_archives('title_li=&type=postbypost&limit=1'); ?> but instead, it’s not listing the most recent posting and I don’t know why.

I verified it’s listing them – I’m assuming – oldest first, by viewing the posted on dates in WPAdmin. That article is not the newest. And I either didn’t see, or didn’t understand any instructions I found anywhere on the web at this point.

All that to say, I’ve followed instructions to the best of my ability and not gotten the results I need, so I’m seeking understanding and assistance.
