    Well for now, you can use filters:

    With
    dn_has_notifications
    dn_has_message_threads
    and
    dn_has_activities

    I pass the arguments to the BuddyPress system to get the different messages (notifications, messages, activities). You could hook into those filters to alter the arguments so BuddyPress does not reply any messages.

    That said, its of course a rather hacky way, since we produce unnecessary DB queries. So, again, I will have a look into your suggestion.
