I wish to have a direct link to the testimonial from the testimonial widget, as my testimonials are very long. I shorten the characters shown in the widget, but I wish to have a “Read more…” link to the complete testimonial?

As a side request I wish to have a list of links to all testimonials, if possible?

Nice plugin, but I am really missing these things. ??

    Jan,

Thank you for these suggestions. I’ve added them to the TODO list of the next release.

I have got to agree with janartmann.

Great Plugin but not being able to link the shortened testimonials appearing in the widget to their full version is a bit of a set back.

I’m working with the “Read more” links now. I’d like to know where specifically you’d suggest putting them?

    Before or after the cite?
    Text align left or right?
Default text should be “Read more…” or something else?

Linking the whole overall testimonial is fine for when testimonials don’t already contain links. However, how should we let the user know that they can click for the fuller testimonial?

My suggestion would be to put the read more link like so:

“This is a test quote, which is very long. I have…” Read more
    – Author, location

    So within the shortend quote.

About the list it could be something with linking the title of the testiomonial?

I really need this! ?? Thanks for the feedback!!

Testimonials Widget release 2.3.0 in combination with Testimonials Widget Premium Release 1.1.0 now supports linking from long testimonials to the full testimonial. Donate to get a copy of the Testimonials Widget Premium plugin.

I appreciate your work, but I’m not going to pay for such a simple feature.

    Thanks again, I’ll find another plug-in ??

    Kind regards,

    Hi Michael

As a temporary measure I had to do a cheat with the ‘Featured Post Widget’ plugin (see https://www.cheltenhamfrenchtuition.co.uk because it gave me a good sidebar layout i.e. testimonial image above text rather than text wrapping around which can look untidy, followed by a ‘read more’ link. You could then have the company name, company website etc after the read more link.

It would be fantastic if you could also provide shortcodes to list the testimonials within a testimonials entry page showing the thumbnail on the left, then testimonial title and excerpt underneath it.

Clicking the readmore will then link you to the testimonial.

Hope that helps rather than confuses

Come on Jan I think it only fair that some of these plugin developers get some reward for their efforts especially as people like me are using their plug-ins on sites we are building for clients for a fee.

    Jan,

I can understand your position on not donating for “such a simple feature”. That’s not a problem for me and I welcome your taking such a stance.

In any case, the free Testimonials Widget 2.3.0 release update provides several new filters, one of which, testimonials_widget_content, is the same that I’m using for incorporating the ‘read more’ links.

You and other developers are very welcome to code your own version of Testimonials Widget Premium plugin’s caching and ‘read more’ link capabilities without donating.

Personally, it was a hard choice making the ‘Read more’ link feature a premium option. I knew that there were going to be people not happy with me for doing so. However, I feel that asking for donations are an acceptable request to help pay for the normally free and ongoing support and development like Testimonials Widget’s 17 high-level changes to go from version 2.2.9 to 2.3.0.

Furthermore, if someone can’t afford to donate, they can always email me directly, not via the forums, and ask politely for a copy of the premium plugin. The support email address is found under the “Support” heading at https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/testimonials-widget/.

Lastly, the Testimonials Widget Premium plugin is an add-on, rather than a replacement for the free Testimonials Widget plugin. The Testimonials Widget plugin is required to be installed and activated in order for the Testimonials Widget Premium to work.

    Ciao!

It’s all right. No problem at all.

    It’s our own choice. ??

I’m coming to realize a template engine is needed. Ugh…

Please provide visual examples of what the “List of links to all testimonials” would look like.

    Thank you.

Just an unordered list of the titles, maybe combined with the author and location with a link on ??

Can you show me how to use the testiomonail_extra? How do I know the link to each of them.

    Kinds regards,

    Jan,

    1. For the listing, an unordered list is fine. However, to me, the post title is the author and I use the title meta field as a location when I don’t have a title. So that makes sense. However, I’m still not sure if you want something like the following or not.

If this isn’t on target, please provide specific examples.

    2. For using testiomonail_extra, please see FAQ 3.
