    I should have specified that you would make that change in your INDEX.PHP file and it would surround the calls to the database. I ost ed what I did because that was just an excerpt from the code of your served page. I should have explained that much better. That was my error; my apologies.
    Links are a list, so they are, by default, set up in the menu as lists. If you don’t want this, you will have to go in to the INDEX.PHP file and simply exchange the UL LI markup for whatever markup that you want.

    @triple7, I think this might be what you’re looking for: WordPress Wiki – wp_list_cats.

    Am I right in saying that editing index php can solve nearly all of this except get links (which is the big one) The list markup is served by the php.
