"Lite" version of The Events Calendar?

    I’m a WordPress newbie doing a pro-bono web site for my local church. I like the look of The Events Calendar a lot, but it has way more functionality than I need. I’m curious if there’s a “lite” version of The Events Calendar that would do the following:

    Calendar view:
    Start time, Title – tooltip would show a fuller description (but NOT repeat the date or show start time/ end time.) Link could go to a post with more details.

    Upcoming events widget:
    Start time, Title
    Short description of event (as above)

    Or is there a simpler plug-in around that would do that?

    I would be interested to find a similar plugin with a calendar and upcoming events widget.

    I tried Events Manager which looks really good but also too complex.

    Was actually thinking of just using a Blog page but removing the “date posted” to prevent confusion.

    Hey guys. Humorously enough, we’ve always viewed The Events Calendar as the “lite” version (the “heavy” version being the PRO add-on). While I’m not aware of anything out there as bare bones as what you’re going for, other users on here may. Apologies I couldn’t offer anything more substantive. Let me know if you’ve got more questions here.

    Thanks. The Events Calendar is a good plugin.

    Just finding it a bit too much for my purposes, and the site I’m building is responsive so it would mean quite a bit of extra CSS.

    It would be good if there was something very simple that just turned the blog page into an events calendar.

    Hey Wambamboo. That is definitely a solid suggestion; I can’t say that we’ve got anything along those lines in the works for the near future, but the fact that there is a demand for it makes me think maybe we should be. Appreciate the heads up here.
