• I upgraded from WP 3.3.2 to WP 3.4 in my Multisite (path) environment. Now I realised, that the live preview of themes doesn’t work. When trying to do the live preview, I get a sidebar left and a blank main section.

On another WP 3.4 installation (single) it’s working fine. So no error from Firefox.

    Any ideas?

  • Woohoo! Unchecking #4 fixed it for me —?live preview works.

So, with #4 checked, the admin pages are glenc.mypencil.net, but the primary domain is glenc.co. With it unchecked, the admin pages are all glenc.co, too, and thus there’s no redirect.

(Maybe it’s interpreting the 301/302 as an error?)

If No4 is unchecked, then the remote login is also disabled.

But strange, when I change one of these check boxes and do “save” then it restores it to the old value right aways.

Is there anywhere a “lock” to prevent changes on the mapping settings?

ARRIGHT! gecampell, that’s it! Excellent ?? I can reproduce that on a clean build too.

I’m going to tag this post so the plugin devs can get alerted.

martin_62, nothing locks those settings down.

Really good work guys. My problem consist of both parent and subsites live preview just constantly reloading in the browser and never staying static to view the preview.

OK, here it’s working also. This is what I’ve done:

I downloaded the newest WP MU Domain Mapping Plugin at https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-domain-mapping/ and copied the files to their appropriate place.

Then I switched off #4 (as described above) and #1 also turned off by itself.

Now I can preview themes even if the primary site is something else than the native mapped site.

    Thanks for helping, guys!!!

    Kind regards
    Martin

I have noticed another problem. I also have a multisite instalation but the problem is in a theme.
I live preview functions without functions.php so I searched the problem there and found out that when I comment out the register_nav_menus() in the Theme preview is functioning again…
Maybe not relevant but the Theme has wp_nav_menu() in sidebar – it is a rework of a Twenty-ten org theme…
Anyone had the same problem with a theme not being supported?

By the way the case happened on the Multisite (path-based network)
    3.4.1
and I got the following error om my apache:

After trying the same Theme in the root site of my Multisite the preview was running smoothly…
    Really weird.

Yes, many themes have problems like this :/

Hey – I noticed the Live preview is buggy and doesnt display when you have custom homepages.

Ie, if your front page is set to be soemthing not normal, a plugin, a redirector, etc. Then your live preview is blank

However, within the live previewer, if you set the front page to be a normal page, or to view “your latest posts” then after a second or two it loads.

    Try that, with the bugs.

Im using almost all the plugins you have and more.

maybe simple work around would be to have the live previewer preview latest posts or some such

Why would you use a plugin/redirect to change your front page? That is why we have static front pages…. Anyway, that’s a different topic, this one is for the specific issue of WPMU domain mapping breaking the live preview. ??

If that is not your problem, please make a new topic for the problem.

well I am really going to throw a wrench in your works I am having problems with live preview as well. I have a static home page not a redirect or any of the plugins you all are using. While I will be happy to start a new thread I think you have a more pandemic problem than a simple plugin causing an error its something to do with the functionality of live preview.

SakeCat, make a new thread ??

Yes it’s possible it’s more widespread, but this is actually pretty rare, and you’d mark the first person I’ve seen who isn’t using the domain mapping plugin who has the ish.
