    Hi there!

I am having an issue with a live stream embed (from another YouTube channel) on my website. It does not update automatically.

Using your wizard, here’s what I do:

    – Choose the “Embed a live stream option”.

    – Paste in the direct URL of the following live stream (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OMjRsb6_ok), and then click Submit.

While it initially works (as the stream is live), the issue occurs once the stream goes offline, and then back up at a later period (in this case the show broadcast is twice a day).

Practically speaking, each time a new show broadcast occurs, a new url for the live stream is created. So the original live stream url (in our example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OMjRsb6_ok) is no longer valid (it becomes a recorded version of the previous broadcast). And your system does not seem to pick up the new ones so it can auto update.

Am I doing something wrong, or is your system not able to process such requests?

Thanks in advance for your help! ??

    Michael

Just to give an update. We have started to look at this feature now. The trick is balancing the need to show time-sensitive content while also minimizing the use of the YouTube API so that the feature does not incur too much API usage. More later.

    Hello there ??

We are still waiting guys for the update to fix auto stream issue ??

Auto stream is now fixed, yippee!

    THANK YOU SO MUCH! ??

Just one thing I noticed, and I don’t know if it’s just me but the custom “Not Live Content” does not seem to work.

Should it be checked or unchecked? Tried both but no luck so far…

Here’s a visual of the way things have been saved in the default settings area:

And here’s the live embed page:

Ideally, when there’s no live stream I’d like to show previous live game drives (using a playlist).

    Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks again for your help, I’m really grateful for the amazing work! ??

    Kind regards,

    Micha?l

We’re also having the same problem as @africafreak.

We normally display an image when the stream is not live, but instead it displays a broken embedded YT video.

The live stream wizard has 2 tabs now, for each type of embed:

    1) Channel-based: Please read this note (you’ll see it in the wizard if you use this option): “Note: For now, the “Not Live” custom content feature is not available for channel-based embeds. YouTube’s standard countdown will appear in the video until the scheduled stream goes live.” The reason for this is that applying the “not live” feature for channel-based livestreams unavoidably takes a HUGE amount of API quota usage for the checks (about 100x the average API query). A few page loads would deplete your quota very quickly. This is one of the main reasons why we stopped providing the channel-based livestream embed feature last year. Instead of removing channel-based livestreams forever entirely, we decided to bring it back with the tradeoff that it wouldn’t use the “not live” feature and deplete your quota. You’ll at least get the standard YouTube countdown screen for the next scheduled live stream on that channel.

    2) Direct link: Instead of completely eliminating the “not live” feature, we decided to still allow the feature for direct-link livestreams. This is because the quota usage is much smaller compared to if it were applied to channel-based ones. However, if you have a high traffic site, quota depletion should still be something to look out for–which is why we mention that if you check the “not-live” option.
