Live tracking stops when a new segment or ID is created. I am using OsmAnd

  • Dear friend, I hope this message finds you well. Thanks a lot for the great plugin!.

    I’m having some issues but I am sure it is my lack of knowledge the problem and not the plugin but still I need help.

    Live tracking STOPS. Trackserver request to refresh the page. So I go to the page and refresh and then I can see the live track.

    The problem seems to happen when OsmAnd (every hour on the hour) creates a new segment (I can see this in Trackserver/Manage tracks) or when I personally create a new segment using OsmAnd. Also if I pause for too long and then restart.

    How can I make TRACKSERVER refresh the page automatically and show the last track (or the last ID)?

    I am the only user.

    I go out on long walks for hours and I want “people” to see me live.

    Hi,

    Unfortunately, this is how Trackserver currently works. The client side JavaScript doesn’t handle the case where the track ID of a live track changes very well. See https://github.com/tinuzz/wp-plugin-trackserver/issues/7.

    If your walks generally last longer than one hour, I would suggest to change the OsmAnd trackname format in Trackserer’s settings, and remove the ‘%H’. Trackserver will then generate a new track every day, instead of every hour.

    But Trackserver does show a popup requesting a page refresh, right? So from the user perspective, it’s all working correctly?
