• Love this plug in – I uninstalled another security plugin I paid for after trying Wordfence, just superior in every way.

One problem though – I have just noticed that my Live Traffic report is now reporting “No events to report yet.” Been that way for at least a couple of days. I deactivated and reactivated Wordfence, turned the monitoring on and off, etc. I checked, I’m not bumping into any memory limits on my server.

This is an extremely useful feature for me – hope there’s an easy fix. Oh – using latest version of WF.

Just to confirm, this is on the live traffic page, where you see tabs for All Hits, Humans, Logins and Logouts, etc., correct?

Are you using any other security plugins, aside from the one you uninstalled? Or do have you used .htaccess to block access to any files? Live traffic depends on the file /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php, so if that cannot be accessed by all users, it will not record activity.

Yes, the tabs for All Hits, Humans, etc. I usually check this out a few times a day; it’s very helpful in a number of ways, including some of the info on where people are coming from.

No other security plugins, and it has stopped working with me having added no new plugins, etc. I.e. it was working fine, I made no changes in my web site at all, and it just stopped working.

Also, have not used .htaccess to block any access (don’t know how to do that and have not used a plugin to do it – again, I haven’t done anything at all to the website since it was working to now, where it is not working.)

Ok, to check to make sure your host isn’t blocking it, try manually visiting this page (replacing “yoursite.com” with your site’s name):
    yoursite.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php

You should get a nearly blank page with just a “0” at the top. If you can try it while logged in and while logged out of your site, that would be best.

If that works, the problem might be a change in your browser — which browser do you use? And are you using any browser extensions/plugins, such as “NoScript”?

You can also check the javascript console in your browser, to see if any errors appear, and post them here. If you are not familiar with the console, this could help:

Part one: tried that, got a blank page with a “0” in the upper left corner. Tried it from three different browsers, logged in an on another browser logged out (Firefox and Chrome and IE.) No changes in browsers in terms of extensions/plugins since it worked.

I’ll try the next step now…. (thanks for taking the time to help BTW)

Opened up the dashboard in Chrome, opened the Javascript console, no errors (no messages at all.) Went to the Live Traffic tab in Wordfence and closed and opened the JS console again, nothing.

Additional info – when I look at the Top Consumers tab, it is showing visitors from 14 hours ago (and I was getting the no events to report then.)

And now when I look at the JS console, while WF Live Traffic is up, I get this error message:

https://twoormoretotango.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php Failed to load resource: net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

I am also getting my admin login and logouts being logged this morning. So it appears parts of this are working, but other parts aren’t.

It’s confusing. I turned the console off, then back on again, now it shows no errors. Went to the top consumers, top 404s tabs, they show activity, back to the All tab, nothing, and no error now in the JS console. Arghhh.

I see that the site is using W3 Total Cache — can you try turning off that plugin for a while, and see if the visits start recording properly? Depending on the settings you use, some plugins might not work correctly with it.

    (@docdaddy)

Will do. Though I’ve been using that since I started the site and had no problems. (BTW – how did you see that? Did I post something here I should not have posted?)

Ok — I don’t know what might have changed to cause it, unless you have their automatic updates turned on. I haven’t used that myself, so I don’t know if it would notify you.

W3 Total Cache adds a comment to the bottom of every public page (you can see it by viewing the source of the page) — they might have an option to turn it off, if you do not want that to be visible.
