Lo Res Images loading in Carousel – when hi res exist

I have noticed also when you click through the link I posted above, the image title appears as ‘Reception’, when that is not the title. ‘Reception’ is the title of the first image in the first gallery on that page. – – I’m not so worried about this, i hope it helps the diagnose – – more worried about the lo res images.

Can you compare one that works with one that doesn’t? What are the file names of the images (e.g. when you see a good image, right-click and copy image URL), and paste both to me?

I have an idea that I want to explore a bit to determine why you’re seeing this at all (as we check to ensure we’re loading an image larger than what is requested, that is obviously failing here) and why it is random.

hmm im starting to see a pattern the “_” gave me problems in the past – i thought i removed all of them from the file names (after upload)

renaming the title doesn’t work, as you would have guessed because you’re the smart one… should I try replacing the image? It seems i’ll need a plugin for that one…

There is a plugin to rename the file name… I use it on my site: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/media-rename/

The plugin makes it look like you can edit file names from the list of images, but that hasn’t worked in my experience. When you click to edit the image details, there is a file name option halfway down the page that works (albeit a bit slowly for me).

My theory that I need to test further is the 130×1632 is throwing us off. Since WordPress automatically adds the -300x240 part of the file name based on the auto-resizing that occurs when you upload an image, we try to parse out the image details from the file name. I’m going to investigate if our script that checks that is misfiring when the file name is like what you have.

Ok, so removing the 130×1622 is working.

Not sure why it has this extra two on the end.
All the files were 130×162 not with the extra 2? It must be getting added somewhere. As 130×162 is the measurement of the original painting(s), it’s an art industry standard to have it at the end of the filename, but still not sure where that extra 2 is inserting from?

There is no problem with _ in the name, nor – tested both.

Also, is the parsing new? this didn’t seem to always be an issue with the images coming out like that… Thanks Again Brandon for you time!

I’m not sure either. Usually if there was a file of the same name already, a -2 would be added (instead of just 2).

The parsing isn’t new. I haven’t looked up when it was added, but likely near to when Photon was originally launched in Jetpack.
