Load images asynchronically? Page load time question

Does Meta Slider load all the images you put in a slider on page load or does it wait until the next image is needed to load it asynchronically in the background? I have a client who wants 12 hi-quality images on his home page and I can’t add to the page load time. I have sites that are WP 3.5 to 3.71
