As in this support request : https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/what-is-wc-ajaxppc-simulate-cart/ I am also seeing large numbers of requests for /?wc-ajax=ppc-simulate-cart which are causing my site to struggle at high-load times.

I have turned off Pay Later (thanks siliconforks for that tip: it has helped). I already had Paypal smart buttons on the product page disabled.

I’m still seeing excessive requests for /?wc-ajax=ppc-simulate-cart when people are just browsing the site, even though they aren’t anywhere near being ready to pay yet.

I have Cloudflare, caching and my images offloaded to a CDN specifically to keep my server load low due to my large database of weird obscure products but /?wc-ajax=ppc-simulate-cart doesn’t seem to be cached and it’s causing my site to slow to almost unresponsive as customers pile in and open a bunch of pages when our weekly newsletter goes out.

I am not using WC Bookings, nor do I allow my customers to buy via minicart or product page. Is there any progress on being able to completely disable these requests? They are definitely impacting my customers experience negatively. ??

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @cycas

Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.

I reviewed your site and did encounter a lot of latency on the site, but I am not completely sure this is all caused by our plugin. I would expect that the slowness of a site, will also affect the plugins that run on it, so in this situation the plugin will always be slow.

However, the next update improves the cart simulation compatibility and introduces filters for users to have more granular control (enable/disable/throttle) over how often it is triggered:?https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce-paypal-payments/issues/1725#event-10644165104
Later today we anticipate a pre-release version on GitHub that can take advantage of the filters mentioned in the issue comment. We would advise you to try out this release candidate and see if that improves your situation.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hi Joost

I am indeed doing my best on a shoestring, stuck in the struggle between making it faster, and allowing international users to navigate our UK-based products while retaining the odd penny not spent on memory or processors. I think most Woocommerce users have fewer products or more processors available to them than we do.

I carefully monitor what actually hits our server rather than our various offsite caches, and the list of wc-ajax=ppc-simulate-cart post requests in our log was alarming. Our traffic hasn’t gone up, but our precious load average has. I thought all the wc-ajax=ppc-simulate-cart requests had to be a malicious bot at first and tried to block them.

I’m really pleased to hear that there will be an option to throttle these requests, thank you! I will give it a test asap.
