Load time too slow

  • Hi there,

    My site takes from 13 – 17 secs to load. I have read that if it is less than 10secs, 54% of your visitors bounce it.

    I use the theme twenty-ten. The plugins on the site are:

    All-in-one-seo
    CK editor
    Fast Secure Contact Form
    Google XLM sitemap
    Hello Dolly
    Quick Cache
    Search Ekko
    Share Post
    Strictly Auto Tags
    TDO mini forms
    Wordpress.com stats

    I have been told that my images are too large – but I don’t think that is still so as I have corrected that.

    Any help will be appreciated. (I get tired of waiting for it to load, so I’m sure others must do too.)

  • Hmmm it loaded for me in about 4 seconds on 30meg broadband

    You do have a lot of ads though so it may be those that are slowing things up with the images for the ads being fetched from remote sites.

    That’s both interesting and comforting. I will get rid a lot of the ads and see how it goes.

    I just don’t know what to fill up that space down the side with if the ads go!

    I am not very clued up about this. Does this information suggest that I should use a zip plugin to compress the excess KB?

    No I was just showing you it was fetching 40 files mainly from other sites. Adverts etc

    OK, thank you for that.

    I have deleted a lot of the ads down the RHS. There are still some which would be fetched from within the actual text. I will just have to wait and see if it improves the performance.
