• Hey guys. I installed another wordpress blog on my deluxe hosting account on godaddy. I wanted to install a plugin that required php5 and I had php4. I switched to php5 then decided not to even install the plugin. Then I realized that my website was taking 13-16 seconds to load on a T1 connection… So I promptly switched it back to php4. Still no luck. I called godaddy and they said “I should purchase a dedicated IP address”

I’m not sure if I’m buying this… it all of the sudden went from .4 seconds to ~14… Well I wiggled it down to 4.36 seconds on a T1 connection.

I’d like to have your opinions on what is wrong, how I can speed it up, and if I should get a Dedicated IP

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 – 2.9.2) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to rule-out a theme-specific issue.

I doubt that a dedicated IP would help your situation.

Test your URL with Pingdom Tools, look at what is slow loading and causing the change.

I did what you guys told me. Removed plugins and installed the Twenty Ten Theme. It’s still taking 1.23 seconds on a T1 connection according to https://analyze.websiteoptimization.com

According to Pingdom Tools it’s taking 6.8 seconds with everything removed but 6.6 seconds with HTTP Compressor. ANy ideas?

I switched to Godaddy’s deluxe Grid plan rather than shared
