• It appears that with Photoswipe Masonry active, any gallery not only loads its thumbnails and 3 full-size images (as per Photoswipe 4 DOM rules as I understand them), but all full-size images, on every page load.

Is that on purpose, and if so, can I easily change this behaviour?

It does make for really heavy loads on pages that have large galleries and somewhat counters the elegance of Photoswipe 4, IMHO.

  • bump for experiencing this same issue. Very frustrating, and makes the plugin unusable.

Hi. Not it shouldn’t load the full size images. If you have galleries on the site you need to rebuild your thumbnails. Have you done this?

Hmmm yes, I did. I checked out the code and noticed you are adding a custom size that should follow the options. It’s just… not. I might have some function or something that is interfering. I’ll look into it more, thanks.

My apologies. I had an idiotic custom function from a while back that overrode the thumbnail generation in order to allow downloading of the original file size…

Anyway, long story short I’m an idiot and this worked perfectly. Thank you!

OK haha. Thanks for the letting me know.

Thanks Dean for clearing that up.

I thought this is by design, since it also happens on your own demo page https://thriveweb.com.au/the-lab/PhotoSwipe/ — Safari, Firefox and Chromium load the 21 photos in 500×333 as well as 1800×1200 sizes.

I’ll retry on a new blank dev site with a different theme, see what happens.

Hmm looks like it is… I’ll look into that!
