Loads extremely slow

I have the scheduler installed on my intranet site, and have recently moved the entire site from a closed network to a web server. It now takes a good 20-30 seconds to load the calendar after the page around it has loaded fine.

Are there known issues with this? Is there something I can do to speed up the load time?
