Loads late in Chrome

In Chrome: The icons don’t appear until the rest of the page has loaded. This happens on every page.
In Firefox version 28: They usually appear as normal now that I’ve disabled the Avast Security plugin. However they do still ‘flash’ into view after everything else sometimes when I refresh the page – I haven’t looked at it enough to know how frequently this happens.
Is this a Javascript problem? Could you point me to where I should tweak?
