    Is the Child site your trying to connect added to your Dashboard and the message remains or is the Child site not adding?

    Thread Starter Fabrizio Azzali

    (@fabrizio-azzali)

    Operation I’ve done:

    1) Installed on local site MainWP Dashboard plugin. No Other plugin. Fresh wp install. 4.2.4

    2) Installed on production live site MainWP Child plugin.
    Other plugin active: Wp-rocket, Elegant Themes Updater, All In One SEO Pack, Bookly,
    Other plugin inactive: Disable All WordPress Updates, One-Click Child Theme, Elegant Themes Updater

    3) Tested connection on the live site: result OK. Tested the Plugin Conflicts: No conflicts found.
    4) Tried to add in the local site info about the production live site and get the error: Invalid request.

    need more info?

    Please check these areas:

    Do you see any errors when you go to Server Information –> Error Log on your Dashboard?

    Do you see any warning when you go to Server Information –> Server on your Dashboard?

    Do you see any Status Failed or Errors on the Child site when you go to the MainWP Server Information page on the Child?

    Installed in a live site I get connection.
    Bye
    Fabrizio

    First time trying – I get “Invalid request” on localhost

    Will try something else – not a good start

    @worthdesigning I’ll be happy to help.

    When using the MainWP Dashboard on a localhost you’ll want to follow the Quick Start Guide that appears when you initially install the plugin.

    In the Quick Start Guide it will ask you if you are

    1. Installing on a localhost

    2. Installing on a service running the Windows Operating System

    Based on the error it appears you are installing on a service running the Windows Operating System.

    Generally at this point the Quick Start Guide is able to make automatic changes to the plugin in order to allow it to run on a local host. Basically, the Quick Start Guide is letting the Dashboard plugin to know where the openssl.cnf file is. This is usually c:\xampplite\apache\conf\openssl.cnf.

    However, if you skipped the Quick Start Guide or your your openssl.cnf is in a different place then you will need to make the changes manually. You can find those steps in this blog post under the heading “Manual Adjustment for Localhost Setup”

    If you still experience issues I would recommend opening a trouble ticket so the support staff can help you out.

    Thanks for that – I did actually follow the directions for a localhost install.

    Mine is in Program Files/xampp > think that’s where it went wrong.

    Think I got the path wrong.

    Thanks for the detailed and very helpful response ??

    I out a line in and installation had a conniption – must have entered something incorrectly!

    I added ‘config’ => “c:\programfiles\xampplite\apache\conf\openssl.cnf”);

    Tried
    $conf = array( ‘private_key_bits’ => 384 ), ‘config’ => “c:\programfiles\xampp\apache\conf\openssl.cnf”);

    Didn’t like that either

    The localhost page isn’t working

    localhost is currently unable to handle this request.
