LOCAL install asking for ftp connection information

    After wrestling with MAMP for a day and hitting wall after wall I started fresh today with XAMPP. Found a great online tutorial, but it’s a little outdated once I get wordpress up and running locally. When I try to import tools or add/delete plugins it asks me for ftp information.

    any help would be greatly appreciated.

    re-installed MAMP, same exact problem. There are numerous workarounds for this online, tried many of them, none of them worked.

    Same issue here. I have also tried posting a request for info in the MAMP support forums. Unfortunately, those forum posts are moderated and I have been unable to get even a single post requesting assistance through their posting process. So unless there is an answer here I am also stuck.
