Local Install – WAMP – Dropbox

I am on a Windows 7 Professional machine at work and a Windows 10 Home for my home computer.

I have downloaded and installed the latest version of WAMP successfully. I have edited several files to point to my Dropbox directory for the WAMP server so I can work on development at home and at work. Everything is working well in WAMP on Dropbox, I have the green WAMP symbol, and when I go to WAMP>phpmyadmin, I am taken to the admin page.

I have downloaded the latest version of WordPress. My question is about where to copy/rename the WordPress folder. I had assumed I need to go to the Dropbox/WAMP/www folder and paste/rename it there, so I can access from other physical locations. However, when I do that, and then go to browser and enter https://localhost/mysite, it can’t find anything. When I copy/paste/rename in the C:/WAMP/www directory, it finds it and I am taken to the WordPress setup process.

When I check where phpmyadmin saved the new database, it is in the correct folder on my Dropbox directory. The only problem appears to be where WordPress is copied for it to be found by localhost. I did a test and copied it to both places, naming the folder “mysiteC” where it is copied to the C:/WAMP/www/mysite folder, and “mysiteD” where it is copied to the Dropbox/WAMP/www/mysite folder. When I created the database, it used the C location and not the Dropbox location.

The big question I have is whether or not this is correct behavior. If I leave the office, go home, and try to work on this project from the other computer, will I have all resources needed to do so, or will I be missing the WordPress info since it is installed in the C:/ drive on my office computer and not in the Dropbox/WAMP/www/mysite directory?

I am a total beginner at this, so any help you guys can offer is greatly appreciate.
