Hi, i am using woocommerce blocks. And in my checkout the store pickup option is set as default. I would like to set the “ship” option as default.

I tried to edit the payment page, preselect the “ship” option and save, but that didn’t work for me.

    I await your feedback

    Hi there!

I understand your concern. I tried to replicate the issue on my site, and I can see the shipping method appears selected by default. It seems like this might be caused by a plugin conflict or theme settings you are using.

For testing purposes, could you please deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce and activate a default WooCommerce theme, such as Storefront, to see if that resolves the issue?

For more details on how to run a conflict test, you can refer to this article.https://woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/

    Thank you

    Hi @pakofocus,

I wanted to provide another possible solution for this:

The reason the Store Pickup is the default is related to the shipping address at the point of checkout.

Depending on your settings, up until the user enters an address, there may be no way of identifying their location and therefore display the correct shipping options.

One way to resolve this would be to:

    • Go to WooCommerce > Settings > General page.
    • Under General options, there is a dropdown for Default customer location which could be set to the store address.

This would present the user with initial shipping options rather than the Local Pickup by default. Once the user updates their address, this would then update the shipping costs accordingly.

Please give that a try if the conflict test did not help!

    Hi @iliadio,

thank you so much for your report, much appreciated.

In Default customer location I have geolocation. I analyzed the problem better and I discovered that the problem was related to the fact that I had 3 shipping zones and each zone had limitations for postcode. I solved the problem by setting a shipment for the Rest of the world zone, which is used by woocommerce in the checkout before the user enters his address.

Thanks again for the report it’s nice to see that someone is interested!

    Hi @pakofocus,

I really appreciate you taking the time to follow up and share your findings. That makes a lot of sense—WooCommerce will use the “Rest of the World” zone as a fallback when no other zones match, so adding a shipping method there was a great workaround.

Thanks again for your thoughtful report, and I’m glad to hear you got it sorted!

Please don’t hesitate to create a new topic if you need further assistance.

    Cheers!
