    Dear community,
I have been asked by an architect friend to create a touch-screen presentation to go in his lobby on an 84″ plasma – probably 3840 x 2160 pixels.
Providing I adjust the relevant settings in the css and php files, I assume that there is no reason why I cannot make wordpress run on such a big screen – or am I mistaken?
I am planning on running the presentation from a local pc running xampp but I have never run locally before so I’m not sure what the challenges are going to be…
It’s not a big money project, more of a learning approach for me.

Any help or suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

  • This is more of a general design question than a WordPress one, so, providing you use a theme that scales up well, there shouldn’t be any problems.

You don’t need to necessarily design for 3840 x 2160. In many cases, you can design for a somewhat common resolution, like 1280 x 800, and the site would simply be magnified on the plasma. I regularly present on large TVs and even larger projectors (up to 20 ft) and it has never been a problem.

Not only will it be easier for you, but the site will also be more flexible so it can be displayed from most typical sources.

The biggest thing to watch out for is the quality of the images. Finding the right balance of size vs quality on large screens is key so you neither have a slow site nor pixelated images.

Thank you both – this answers my questions.

Gabe, Images are going to be interesting to manage, but I’ll take a suck it and see approach. I am very familiar with photoshop so I will experiment on size vs resolution.
