Working on localhost/sitename and all looks good, kind of – no customization came over for pages, menu and theme. Also, when I make changes the preview is blank, does not show changes…

    So very frustrated.

  • Most likely your settings for WP_HOME and WP_SITEURL do not match the local website address of your server. The result is that your browser gets the page text, but when the browser tries to fetch css files or images, it uses a “web” address which is not reaching your local webserver.
Once you fix this you also need to remember that on occasions you need to do a SHIFT+refresh to force the browser to fetch everything about the page.

Nope. They seem to be pointing to the same location localhost/sitename

Yay! Got it! I misunderstood that the site url needed to be changed in the local database. But it’s good now, and I’m becoming an expert on MAMP installs. Yay me! Thanks so much!
