After skimming ten pages of MAMP-related localhost Support questions I’m still flummoxed so here I am, dead in the head, out of coffee and frustrated as hell; I am suffering more than humanity has in the last ten thousand years.

All the install files are the latest versions since I downloaded them this afternoon. Am running High Sierra on my MacMini.

Everything went well up until Step 4 of the instructions (gleaned from https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Installing_WordPress_Locally_on_Your_Mac_With_MAMP).The MAMP Document Root path is MacSSD > Applications > MAMP > htdocs. (Screenshots are visible at
    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/u10v6wxr84aro9h/AACWF8C_b5U9n3sK7b3d-fZAa?dl=0 ).

No matter how many permutations of the path I enter into Chrome, I’m presented with “Not Found – The requested URL /htdocs was not found on this server.”

Any ideas? For this I gave up Adobe Muse…

    Thanks tons,
    Rich

  • Can you tell me the exact url that you entered in the browser? What happens when you enter localhost:8888 in browser? Are you still getting any error?

Greetings, Tsetan, and thank you for responding! Great timing as I solved the problem this morning–I could blame it on the instructions in Step 4, but I might be rebutted about that.

From what I gathered in the instructions, I was suppose to enter localhost:8888/htdocs but try as I mentioned, I didn’t get anywhere. I finally tried just leaving out the port number and *shazaam!*, it worked! Strangely enough, after the installation process, I have use the port number when I run WordPress:

    https://localhost:8888/wp-admin/

Regrettably, I don’t have networking smarts so I can’t explain how or why I was able to launch the installation file without using the port number. : S

Happy to know that your problem is resolved. My knowledge on networking is also limited. But glad to know its working fine for you now.
