Thanks for the kind words. What is the benefit of Transifex over the traditional approach? I have to admit to not being too up on the translation scene. The plugin is translation-ready, has a .pot file ready to be translated and I’d be happy to add your Spanish translations.

I’ve been translating several plugins now and wasn’t until a few days ago that I knew about this site either. Today I’ve created a free account and have translated almost the whole Members plugin and contributed to other 2.

I’ve just accessed the site a few mins ago and I saw that the plugin’s authors have to pay a monthly subscription to host their translations or something like that… I thought it was free for everybody, since we (the translators) do not get paid at all… If I knew that wasn’t free, I wouldn’t suggested it… Since I registerd as a translator, I hadn’t to pay anything…

Anyways, since I’m here I’ll explain what’s the site about. It’s just a place where the plugin author uploads its po files for the rest of the world to translate so the translators can keep it updated instead of communicating back and forth with the author to add the updates , which requires more time and effort ??

I think I saw that it was free for open source projects, so if that’s true all my WP-hosted plugins would qualify. I’ll have to check it out when I get back home.

I have no idea what else I might need to do to get it translatable. I also hope that it will be easy for me to get the .mo/.po files when you are done.

You forgot to tell me there would be more command-line things for me to learn in order to get the translations into my project. ??

What do u mean? When u’re using a po file u allready have used the _e() in php, I do not think u need much more than that, but anyways, I’m just translating plugins, not implementing those translations ??

But thankfully, it looks like I can simply download a .po file from the website. I didn’t see that before. That I can handle and will leave the complex command line stuff for another day.

100% agree, but sometimes it feels like I am Alice falling down the rabbit hole… there is always so much more to learn.

I’ve just tested the translation in one of my sites and works!!! I don’t think u have to do or learn anything else after all ??
