    Where does WP save posts and pages?

    The database. It’s in your wp_posts table.

    I want to edit items that the editor will not access (built into the theme).

    Then you edit the THEME, not the posts ??

    Also if I have a corrupt theme can I reinstall it without losing the specific widgetized items for that theme?

    Maybe, depends on how corrupt it got and where. Usually yes.
