I have noticed a couple of people are having issues with the Google map for locations. I have also noticed a problem, but this is to do with the map not updating or finding the correct postcode.

I have entered the correct address, town, county and postcode into the map form in the location’s backend edit page, but it comes up with the message ‘Location not found’ and the map on my website currently shows a marker on the town of Kirstead, which is the town that the location is situated in, but not the exact postcode.

I have searched for the same address and postcode details on the actual Google maps website and the exact postcode location is found so I think it could be an issue with the EM plugin.

The name Kirstead also happens to be part of location’s name, which is Kirstead Hall. Could this be causing a conflict? I have also tried several attempts of changing the map to a completely new address and different postcode but it is stuck on Kirstead no matter how many times I publish new details or clear my cache.

I have updated to the latest version of EM: Version 5.5.5 and still no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’ve just done some extra tests and it seems that all the location Google maps are not able to update any more. I tried several different post codes and addresses but the maps are stuck on whatever they were when the maps were initially set up. Would something have changed with the most recent updates? The maps don’t seem to be working with EM version 5.5.5 or 5.5.3.1 which I was previously using earlier this month.

just to narrow down the problem and help us debug the issue is it possible to try the following temporarily:

    – deactivating all other plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems

Thanks for replying angelo. I had a feeling you might come back and say that! Unfortunately as the site is live and taking bookings I can’t really afford to deactivate the plugins and the theme on the website.

What I might be able to try is creating a test site instead and install the plugins one by one to see if that affects the map on Events Manager, otherwise I will have to schedule in some maintenance time for my website at a non busy period.

As other people are also having issues with the map please can you look into why this might be occuring on new versions of EM in the meantime? The map was working fine when I originally built the website a couple of months ago. Thanks.

It’s 95% certain to be a jQuery conflict with another plugin or your theme. Angelo’s suggestion is the fastest and most reliable way to confirm if that’s the problem.

Doing the test should take no more than five minutes. Maybe you can do it during a quiet period?

Thanks for your advice. I’m going to schedule in some time tomorrow when it is quiet to disable the plugins and I’ll feedback on here what I think the issue is.

Just to update you, the conflict issue was caused by the WordPress HTTPS plugin. When I deactivated this plugin and refreshed the page without the SSL certificate (http not https) the location Google map worked perfectly. I could make changes and save them on the website.

When I activated the plugin again, the Google map on the backend location edit page came up with ‘Location not found’ and any updates I made did not save or show on the front end of the site. Once deactivated again it worked fine so if I need to make any changes to the EM pages in future I will make sure this plugin is deactivated first.

    Thanks for your help.
