I found it — north coast New South Wales. I was pretty sure it was not the Netherlands.
At first I thought it looked a lot like a loess hill formation near Omaha, Nebraska except for the rocky island thing. Loess is glacial till that got blown into piles forming hills over long periods of time — loess hills run along the north-south flow of the Missouri river from South Dakota to Missouri. They’re very beautiful — some of them are all fine white sand just below the surface, which oil/gas frakking companies have been going after, even cutting hills completely down to the river plain.
Anyway, it’s an interesting photo that made me think about what it might be related to.
