Locations – link to custom post, add new

    Hello Franky,

    Thanks for the great plugin!
    Had a couple of questions regarding event locations –
    1. We have a list of locations already on the website as custom posts (and with more attributes) – we want to create events at these locations. What will be the best way to link events with these existing locations? I can create the same set of locations in the _eme_locations table and add external urls, but this will create duplicate pages for the same location. Is there a way to insert a canonical tag in the EME location page to the external url, or have a redirect set up?
    2. Although we have existing locations, we want the ability to add new locations too. If I select the ‘Use dropdown for locations’, how can I create a new location when adding an event?

    I can code, please feel free to suggest if a code hack can help.

    Either use custom attributes for your events (where you point to those location pages), or indeed create eme locations with external url set. EME does not create extra pages, so that shouldn’t matter.
    If you want to create new locations while adding events, don’t use the “use dropdown for location”. Then your location will get created for you, or via autocomplete you can select an existing location.
    For the dropdown or autocomplete to work, you need to use EME locations though.
