    Hi,

I’m getting a message from Wordfence that:

    You are temporarily locked out
You have been temporarily locked out of this system. This means that you will not be able to log in for a while.

Tried to login on my test account too, and getting the same message, also from a different browser.

Does WpForo not play nicely with WordFence?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

This has no any relation to wpForo, they work fine together. This will happen on the native WordPress login form too. There is no any difference in login forms. The problem is not in login forms.

BTW, have you configured any antispam solution for the registration and login forms? We recommend enable wpForo built-in reCAPTCHA in Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Antispam Tab.

Yes, I’ve got a recapcha activated.

Right, I might have found what it was.

There are EIGHT user accounts, two of which are admin accounts, three editor accounts, and three subscriber accounts in the WordPress> Users panel.

Only myself and my test account however have opened a forum account, even though It’s showing that all eight users are ‘registered users’ in the forum.

I tried logging in with one of the editor’s accounts as they wanted to join in, which is when I got the WordFence message.

I’m guessing then that the editor needs to re re register for the forum?

Also whilst I’m here, a quick feature request?

Could it be made so that anyone online in the forum, be they guests or otherwise, show up in the forum statistics – either naturally or via the click of a button, rather that the stats just showing ‘x’ online?

Currently, in the footer you see the online guest+users count.

All I can see at the moment is a light bulb icon with ‘online’, and a person icon with ‘members’.

How do I activate the online guest+users count?

It’s already active, this is a total count of online guests and users:

Right, and so to my feature request – in addition to the number of online users as mentioned above, can this be made clickable so that we can see WHO is online?

Going back to the locked out issue, my editor is still getting the WordFence message that she’s locked out.

Ok then left this on purpose until now.

My editor is still receiving the above message from WordFence that she is locked out.

Tried again with my test account on her browser, and that received the same message.

The only way I’ve been able to get around this message was when I was blocked using my admin account, and I was able to get WordFence to send a reactivation email to unblock the blocking.

Does that mean then that all of the present WordPress users (eight of them) will be banned from the forum unless I give them all admin privileges, so that WordFence can send them an unblocking email?

    Hi @deeveearr,
I’m sorry but it hard to say what the problem. We’re currently using WordFence on wpForo.com community without any issue. So this problem only exists on your website. This maybe a configuration issue. We’re not expert in WordFence, so we recommend you contact to WordFence support forum for further support.

    (@deeveearr)

    Ok then, try it yourself.

Try logging in with the username ‘Louise’ or ‘Leela’ and just put any password in, and see what happens.

You SHOULD get told to reset your password, but just try it and see.

As I see it, (admins excluded of course) is that any authors, or editors, or even subscribers that are already members of the website, are automatically getting blocked by WordFence when they try to login to the forum section, meaning that there is something wrong with the way that WPForo is handling registrations.

Being an Admin, I wouldn’t get blocked as I initiated the software – if i’d got blocked initially, the software would have been dumped.

These new members cannot use their present email to login either, as the forum software notices that the email they supply is a duplicate, and wont accept it.

@deeveearr, have you contacted to WordFence support?
As i mentioned, this problem comes from some option or configuration of WordFence plugin. They can see you very easy which option or setting may affect login or password reset process. We don’t know all WordFence settings. Please contact them and ask them how to avoid WordFence affection on login and password reset processes.

    Yes, just mentioned it now.

The post is held in moderation for some reason though

    Got it!

The firewall for the two editor’s ip addresses needed whitelisting, and also Louise had forgotten that her username was in fact her nick-name, so all is good now.

    Thanks for the help, @gvectors-team
