I am having the same problem as Paul G. posted 3 days ago.

I am suddenly unable to edit custom posts on my site, and I get the message: You were blocked by the WordPress Simple Firewall. Something in the URL, Form or Cookie data wasn’t appropriate.

I have had the Simple Firewall plugin active on my site for months, and I’ve never had this problem before.

Then, when I went to access the admin area of the plugin, it wouldn’t accept my admin access key. I am completely unable to change or even view any of the plugin settings.

Also, my ip is entered in the plugin as one that should never be blocked.

I’m assuming this has something to do with your recent update? Can you help?

    Hi Arnold,

Could you use the process outlined here to switch off the firewall:
    https://icontrolwp.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/3000000959

In this way you can reset your admin access key.

Recent releases of the plugin haven’t changed the Firewall checking process. Under the firewall section could you uncheck the option for scanning cookies and retry.

Then with the custom posts problem, take each Firewall option and uncheck them one by one and try to edit a custom post. You need to find which firewall rule is being triggered.

There are millions of WordPress plugins and while it might work for years and not have a problem, all it takes is for a plugin to update or start submitting data that trips the firewall rules. This isn’t an error with the firewall – it’s exactly what you want to happen – it’s the nature of firewalls. You need to configure the firewall options to be compatible with your site functions.

Can you also confirm the IP address you have in the white list is correct and your IP hasn’t changed?

    Thanks!

Just following up here… have you had a chance to look at this?

Sorry, Paul, forgot to post that I did exactly as you suggested and everything is working fine.

    Great, happy to hear.
May I ask, if you like the plugin so far, could you leave us a nice review, please?

    Thanks!
