did upgrade this afternoon from 3.7.1 to 3.8. I have logged in and out several times throughout the day with no problem. Tonight I triggered wp security maint mode for one hour while I uploaded a few mp3 files. Now hours later I am not able to log into my wordpress site at all. I have tried to many times to count. Does anyone have a clue how I can get logged back into my wordpress site.

    Theme is Responsive

    many thanks,

    Jerry

  • We have encountered the same issue after updating to 3.8

We are unable to 1) log out (even after cache is cleared)
    2) unable to login

We tried reverting back to 3.7.2 and it works fine again. Same plugins etc.

Will wait for feedback before trying 3.8 again.

@onwpthemes – please post your own thread – posting in someone else’s thread even if you think your issue is the same, is not a good way to get help on these forum – please read over the forum guidelines.

@tnhwyman – do you have a maintenance mode plugin? Have you tried deactivating it using FTP or Cpanel via your server files?

    WPyogi,

Thanks for your guidance. I did install and activate a plugin called “better-wp-security” the day before yesterday when I was running on wordpress 3.7.1. I looked through my site just now via ftp and found in the following dir: “wp-content/plugins/” the “better-wp-security” plugin, but I don’t see a plugin named “maintenance mode” I at this point am not sure if I do or not. I have never used this plugin “wp-security” before, but I do remember being in a tab where I flipped the switch “thinking I was closing site down for a period of time to do maint. I never used this feature before but it seemed like a good idea at the time, since I was loading church music mp3 files up on an active website. But prior to all this activity I did upgrade to wp 3.8. As far as accessing files via cpanel or ftp, I can do that, but knowing which file to edit and where it is located may have to be pointed out to me. It’s been many years since I did any website management, but I got to say, WordPress support and options has improved 10 fold.

In an attempt to help others I will post how this issue was resolved.

What I had done is used the “Administor away mode” within the wp-security plugin. I set date, and time for a 15 min lockout Type was set for 1 time. I was no longer able to log in to the admin panel until I went into my cpanel, logged into the database, and locate “bms_options,” and then find “active_plugins.” Here I went into edit mode and cleared its data.

Also for the record, I am running 3.7.1 wordpress and the 3.8 upgrade was never installed.

I hope this info will help anyone that falls in my footsteps.
