I locked myself out from my WP website. Unfortunately I also have a “hidden login” plugin installed. When I try to Unlock my IP with the link “Click here to unlock your ability to sign-in and to access to the site.” I end on the 404, and I think it wasn’t unlocked, since the login site is not there, where it normally is.

Does someone have an idea what can I do? Thanks a lot!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @mimmax,

I’m happy to provide you with instructions on how to get back into your site. Follow these steps:

    • Please use FTP/SFTP — or any file manager your web host provides via their administration panel.
    • Look inside the /wp-content/plugins/ directory and rename the wordfence directory to wordfence.bak.
    • Once you have logged in to your WordPress admin you can name the folder back to wordfence again.
    • Refresh your dashboard and you should be able to see Wordfence Active again. If not, go to the Plugins page and Activate it.

If that doesn’t work, you may need to log in using a mobile device (using mobile data if your wifi IP is likely to match the one blocked) and remove your IP from the list in Wordfence > Blocking.

    Thanks,
    Peter.

Thank you so much, @wfpeter – it worked!

I had to additionally rename the plugin folder wps-hide-login(.bak) in order to find the right login-path. It was a bad idea to hide it with a cryptic name, which I lost somehow.

So happy — I wish you a great day,

    Mirjam

Ah, now I realize: the cryptic name I used as a login page was saved in lower case. That was the additional reason, why I was forwarded to the 404-page when I tried to login, although I used a different IP, and already unblocked my IP.

Thanks a lot for helping me with that!
