Locked Out – Help!

Send me the FTP & Database logins via mail , so that I can check it up & revert back the admin role.
(Dont post the logins here , just mail me )

Please don’t ask for, or give out, any login information in these forums. It’s against forum policy (yes, even if you ask for them to be sent privately), and an EXTREMELY bad idea.

Sorry if I had asked it publicly here in the forum & I apologize for that.

But as a Freelancer , I have served many clients with wordpress & for any updates or work to be done , the logins has to be provided.
Thats the reason I clearly stated that , if the problem is not resolved , I can help you a freelancer & asked him to mail me & not to post the logins here in the forum.
I’m aware of secutiry concern about any website for that matter.

Anyway I apologize for asking him to send me the logins here in the forum.

That’s good and I’m glad you apologized. ?? But you really should not have asked at all let alone publicly.

It’s like this: many of us are consultants and your posts can easily be construed as fishing for work. That is 100% something that is not allowed here especially when there are more appropriate venues in other forums for that.

Note: I am not saying that that is what you have done so please do not get upset. But you can see how your post can be read that way.

Not here they don’t. These are free community support forums and if someone needs that level of support then they really must go elsewhere such as to https://jobs.wordpress.net/ and seek professional help.

Support is offered via the forums and not email, Skype, or instant messenger. Requesting that sort of access should not be asked here. There may be exceptions but not many and they do not involve regular members in the forum.

Have a gr8 Christmas & New Year vacation

One way would be changing the setting through phphmyadmin under the _usermeta table. The row you would be looking would be linked to the user_id of that person then you can change _meta_value of _capabilities to a:1:{s:13:"administrator";b:1;} To set it back to admin. One way I can think of. ??

Edit: DOH! I forgot Jose had replied first. Both methods work, use which ever one you feel comfortable with. ??

That code snippet will let you create a new admin user. Log into your WordPress installation with that new admin user and fix that Editor account back to admin.

You can put that code into your theme’s functions.php file and that will create the new account for your. Please make sure that you make a backup copy of that functions.php file first.

Once you’ve fixed the original account the restore the theme’s previous functions.php file and delete that new admin account.

Hi folks – still couldn’t sort this issue – I can’t even restore from Backupbuddy as I now do not have the access to the files. Is there any way behind the scenes to disable a plugin completely?.
