Since this plug-in automatically updated itself, I am unable to log in. Once I put in the 2FA, it blocks access saying the username field isn’t filled in. I’ve tried resetting the 2FA in the database to 0 from 1, where it will ask me to record a new 2FA QR-code, but then that new authentication not work. Please get in touch so I can private message you the full login url.

    Hello @rajmataj,

If you have faced issues with 2FA authentication saying:

Error: The username field is empty. Error: The password field is empty.

You can update to the newest version and make sure the browser cookies are cleared once the update has been completed and the issue should be resolved.

    Best regards,

    Hello @georgiganchev

I have now exactly the same issue. I activated the option of the Two-Factor authentification of the plug-in SECURITY OPTIMIZER. I was logged out immediately. Now I can’t login into my WP account anymore. After entering the code generated by the Google Authenticator app an Error message says:

Error: The username field is empty.

Error: The password field is empty.

I just could make some screenshots, so it’s the plug-in Version 6.5.3
I deleted all cookies in chrome. But didn’t helped.

Any ideas how to solve this?!
I’am pretty new to WordPress. Just installed the Astra Theme and was finishing the website.

Highly appreciate you help. Many thanks in advance.

    Hello @sigi88,

Since you have mentioned version 6.5.3, I believe that you are referring to the version of your WordPress application and not the plugin. Please note, that the latest version of the Security Optimizer plugin is 1.4.13, so be sure that this is the version you are using.

If you are using the latest version of the plugin and the issue continues to persist, then there is likely another security plugin installed on your website. Certain plugins that change the administrative URL of WordPress applications (the “wp-admin” URL) can interfere with the 2FA of the Security Optimizer. As such, please make sure any other security plugins with similar functionalities are disabled.

If you are a SiteGround client and you need help debugging this further, please get in touch with our team our through our Help Desk and we will review your application in detail.

    Kind Regards,

    Preslav

@preslavkenanov thank you for your prompt help.

Yes you are probably right, but as I installed your plugin just a few days ago I assume it should be the latest one 1.4.13.

As I can’t login as mentioned I am not able to check which other plugins are installed and activated. TBH I can’t remember if I have changed the “wp-admin” URL e.g.
When entering WP login page “https://scrumexamhelper.com/wp-admin/” the browser url changes into:
    https://scrumexamhelper.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fscrumexamhelper.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

So you are right, seems I have changed it. Damn.

Isn’t there any other ways to deactivate your 2FA or the plug-in at least?! Or can I deactivate the administrative URL changer at least?! I mean without logging into WP of course.

    Many thanks for your support!

    Hello @sigi88,

If you are a SiteGround client you can deactivate all of your plugins directly from your Site Tools as per the instructions here:

    https://eu.siteground.com/kb/disable-wordpress-plugins-site-tools/

This will help you regain access to the backend of your website. You may also get in touch directly with our team via our Help Desk and we will make sure to help you access the dashboard of your website.

And if you are using a different hosting provider, then you can disable the plugin(s) over SSH with WP-CLI or by simply renaming the “plugins” folder of you application via the File Manager tool or over FTP. Please, that these actions will temporarily break the layout of your website as all of the plugins will be deactivated, so once you gain access to the backend of your website, you should re-activate your plugins.

    Kind Regards,

    Preslav

Thank you so much @preslavkenanov !!!

I just renamed the plug itself via FTP and its now deactivated.

You live and learn. Thanks for helping and teaching.

    Highly appreciated.
