Locked out of Admin

  • Hi

    I am locked out of admin after too many failed login attempts.

    I saw on a similar post that the first step was to reset password – which I have. Still no joy.

    The second step was to scan for malware. I have been to Sucuri SiteCheck and it all seems fine.

    Any thoughts?

  • Go to FTP rename plugin folder name to some thing else and try to login in admin.

    After that, set it back.

    Presumably you’re using a plugin to prevent too many logins. Could be Login Lockdown, WordFence or something else – which one do you use?

    Usually these plugins block your IP address for a short while, after which you can try again. How long depends on which plugin you use and how you configured it.

    As a final recourse, use FTP to temporarily remove the plugin. Can you login now?
