Locked out of my site

    Well, I’ve spent the entire day bloodying my skull against the wall.

    I’ve tried multiple ways of getting through but nothing:

    Changing your WordPress password via FTP
    — (wp_set_password(‘password’,’admin’);) in the functions.php
    — Using the Emergency Password Reset Script
    Mind you, this is all before/after repeatedly trying to change it in phpMyAdmin.

    Have read that in some cases I could just enter in the MD5 hashed password in lieu of the $P$B style which I don’t even understand. Regardless, I’ve looked up and down and trying numerous variations while still keeping my original MD5 hash saved aside just in case.

    Nothing is getting me in.

    Mind you, the above all began with my trying to convert my site to a multi-site. Which worked mostly, short of a couple important plugins misbehaving. So I figured to ask my host to restore my a backup with the aim of asking these plugin authors for advice. Hah! That served up a whole new world of hell! Backup after backup going back for nearly two weeks got us nowhere!
    Please help.

    Oh, Forgive me. Forgot to mention what might’ve been obvious.

    The dreaded:
    “Could not save password reset key to database.”

    That is, when trying to have the password reset through the wp-admin login page.

    One week ago I was uploading blogs onto my website https://www.helpmate.co.in when WordPress asked me to update to VERSION 4.6. I clicked on this and for a long time I got the message: Information being sent to server.
    I closed the website and when I tried to re-enter I get this message:

    URL: https://helpmate.co.in/wordpress/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?comment_status=moderated
    The page reads: 500 Internal Server Error.

    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
    Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
    More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    After too many hours I came to the idea that a folder somewhere was denying access since there were other errors brought on by a failing plugin (seen through the errors log in Cpanel) indicating access to a tmp folder.

    Well, my hosts finally figured out that the supposed folder didn’t even exist!

    It’s now there and all is good with the world again. ??
