    Hello guys,
I just transfered a domain to Siteground (www.grammelot.org) and then changed my website, with an active Wordfence plugin, from grammelot.net to grammelot.org

I can’t access the website anymore and the website is down.
The Siteground support made me go through some basic steps to check nothing is wrong on their end, and then told me that the issue is cause by the Wordfence plugin.

I deactivated all the wordpress plugins from phpMyAdmin, as advised by the Siteground support. Still no changes.
They told me that the issue is caused by Wordfence and I should ask there on what to do next.

    What should I do?

    Thanks

  • You might have to delete the wordfence-waf.php file from the root of your wordpress installation and delete or comment out the Wordfence WAF entries from your htaccess file. I’ve found that these can cause issues even if the plugin is disabled.

Hi @grammelot, thanks for getting in touch.

I believe @gjefle might be on the right track as Siteground do have a slightly different setup requirement, which probably differs from your previous host. Some hosts do not support the use of “.user.ini” files and your old one may have used them for optimization.

Take a look at our documentation on the subject to see if you can remedy it that way: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/optimizing-the-firewall/#alternative-hosting-provider-setups

Let me know how it goes!

    Peter.
