  • Hi Aaron,

Thanks for using Paid Memberships Pro. I can confirm that this recipe works in that I just helped someone with a concern about its use. But can you clarify what you mean by “stopped working”? Are you saying that it’s not restricting access or it’s not redirecting to the login or what? Did your hosting change? Specifically, was it working with Apache, but not with nginx?

It is allowing users who are not logged in to access restricted files if they know the url. As far as I know, my host (1and1) still uses Apache.

My suspicion is that the getfile.php is not being activated, almost as if define(‘PMPRO_GETFILE_ENABLED’, true); was set to false instead. I’m not sure how to test this.

    Thanks for the feedback @aaron843.

What you could test is add some custom code to your getfile.php to run on page load and see if that code runs. That way you know that the file is loading correctly.

Also, please note that the files need to be assigned to a post/page/thing that requires membership in order to restrict direct access to it. If these items are simply loaded to your WordPress site, they won’t be restricted using this method.

If you still struggle with this, please feel free to open a support thread on https://www.paidmembershipspro.com so we may look into this further for you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
