Log in attempt goes to white screen

  • I’m unable to log in, every time I attempt it, I get a white screen. For a few weeks now, whenever I’d try to update or make most changes, I would get the white screen. There weren’t any error messages. I did a search and couldn’t find anything exactly like what I was experiencing. It was an inconvenience, but now I’m unable to even log in.

    I tried the usual suggestions before the log in problem. I disabled all the plugins, but even with no plugins enabled, I’d get the white screen. I tried a few themes, all had the same problems. I tried to reinstall WordPress, but that didn’t help either.

    I haven’t done anything in the coding section, that’s beyond my abilities. Any suggestions are certainly appreciated. Thanks.

    Do you get the “White Screen of Disappointment” every time you log in or does it only occur occasionally?

    How did you deactivate the plugins?

    What is the URL of your site?

    Which company is hosting it?

    Thanks for the Reply. Yes, I’m getting the white screen every time in Firefox, which is what I usually use. I just tried IE and when I try to log in, I don’t get white screen, but it says I need to enable cookies. In both Firefox and IE I have cookies enabled, and hadn’t made any changes to either recently.

    Last night was the first time it affected the log in, up until then it was when I updated a page, plugin, or made other changes. I was still able to go back to where I was before. So I was able to deactivate the plugins when I was logged in.

    Try increasing the memory allocated to WordPress: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

    You host may prevent this taking effect, so speak to them if this doesn’t fix the issue.
